It is important to have a dependable, working am/fm radio, shortwave receiver or battery powered TV at hand in case of emergency. In the event of a power failure caused by a natural disaster or other emergency, you will need to keep in touch with what is happening by monitoring the radio.
Dead batteries are no longer a problem! A Self-Powered radio does away with these uncertainties. You have a rechargeable wind-up or solar radio always working when you need it. And you can tune into local radio broadcasts for up-to-date information.
It would be very smart to take along a rechargeable Wind-up radio, solar powered Radio or a even a battery powered NOAA weather alert radio with you to the cottage, lakeside, beach, hiking, ice fishing, camping-- or just for your listening pleasure. With many of these radios there is no need to worry about batteries as these radio run by their own "wind up" or solar power. All Weather and public alert radios from Safety Central may include an AM/FM radio, variable volume control, telescoping antenna, digital clock with calendar mode and an alarm. The AM/FM radio will also automatically end and switch to emergency mode when an alert warning is broadcast.
